RING OUT THE OLD AND RING IN THE NEW!!!!

Before we ring in the NEW, we must ring out the OLD.

What a year 2005 has been for the PAPC - SW!

PAPC - SW had its first Paint-Out on the last Saturday of April. As a group, we essentially had a 3/4 year.

We had 3 members at that first paint out and have reliably had more than that number ever since.

PAPC-SW #1

Our email list (which is not our complete list because some folks are not 'wired' and receive their info via relays) is now up to 30.

We have our own Blogsite (due to the 'follow me' of Scott & Stuart): pleinairpaintersofchicagosw.blogspot.com

Thanks to Lino Angeles, we have our own T Shirts and Logo.

Though our usual schedule is every other weekend, we have visited 17 different Paint Out Sites.

Plainfield Fishing Resort
Inwood Park
Portage Historic Site
*Morton Arboretum
*Graue Mill
*Michigan & Wacker
Log Cabin Center for the Arts
Brookfield Zoo
*Kendall College
Birdhaven Greenhouse
Pilcher Park
Isle a la Cache
Turtle Lake
Civil War Re-enactment - Dellwood Park
The Field's Nursery
Downtown Joliet -- the Library
Channahon/I & M Canal

We did five combined Paint-Outs with the PAPC (the ones marked with an * in the list).

We have painted in rain, snow and under the broiling sun.

We have been featured in 4 major events/sales: Civil War Re-Enactment
The First Annual Joliet Park District, Art in the Parks
The Field's Nursery -- Art in the Garden -- where paintings were purchased hot off of the easels.
AND where we have been invited to be the 2006 FEATURED ARTISTS.

Sergio sketching the battlefield

AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST WE PRESENTED 80 PAINTINGS IN OUR VERY OWN SHOW AT THE TAVERN CLUB AT 333 North Michigan, where we are welcome back in 2006.

BUT BEST OF ALL WE HAVE HAD THE PLEASURE AND GIFT OF EACH OTHER'S ENERGY IN OUR COMBINED LOVE OF OUR LABOR OF ART.

HOORAY FOR 2005!!!!

WELCOME 2006!!!!!!

Yours gratefully,

Rita R

It's TO THE ZOO!

Hello All!

WHAT: How about a Paint Out Site that allows us the option of painting in Plein Aire Indoors, or inshelter, if that is our wish?

This week's Site will be the Brookfield Zoo. It is loaded with paintability!

WHY: Because it is Cold and this place is great Fun!

WHEN: This Saturday December 17. BUT IT REQUIRES A DIFFERENT TIME FROM WHAT WE ARE USED TO. (Anyone for sleeping a little later?)

The Zoo does not open until 10:00 AM. Soooo, we will paint from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM.

NOTE: For those who are concerned about Mid-Day light --- did you know that, after years of plein air painting, Monet came to paint ONLY IN MIDDAY light? He found it enhances a certain 'flatness' he was striving for.

WHERE: In Brookfield! An easy drive West of the City.

Click the Title Line Check out the website for Directions, MAP, HOLIDAY ZOO, Restaurants, Fountain and other highly PAINTABLE delights!

We can meet in the North East Parking Lot at 10:00 AM. Parking is $8.00 and Admission is $8.00. We can travel around the 216 acre grounds FREE on the Snow Express -- because it is Winter!

So, Let's go PLAY and PAINT with the ANIMALS!

WHO: PAPC - SW. Scott and Stuart and all of the PAPC gang -- YOU ARE ALL WELCOME TO JOIN US!

Paint Out Site December 3 The Log Cabin Center for the Arts

We are back at it, Folks!

The Holiday is over and I hope yours were all Wonderful!

The Site where we will paint this Saturday is the:

Log Cabin Center for the Arts
12700 SouthWest Highway
Palos Park, Illinois

You will recognize this name as having recently shown up in your In Box -- April, Leona, Lois, Midge and Tish invited us all to their Annual Christmas Gala last weekend.

And you have to have heard each of them speak about what a wonderful place this is and how much they enjoy it.

I can't wait to see it and have a chance to have our first really cold paint-out in such a 'warm' and inviting setting. April, et al are attending a creative retreat there this weekend.

We can meet in the parking lot at 8:30 AM. Though April said they will be having breakfast at about that time and we are wel come to come in and warm up with some coffee before we get started.
